Today, we are breaking the ice with Helen Amaral, our Manager of People & Culture. She's been with us for 2 year and 8 months!
- What's the coolest thing about your job?
I learn something new everyday from my colleagues. I have the privilege of hearing about their successes, their happiness their challenges and at times about their personal struggles. It keeps me real; it pushes me to work harder to make everyday a positive fun experience so we can be a united team. I live for the daily interaction with these amazing people. Thank you Arctiq, for the opportunity!
- What's your favourite hobby outside of work?
Aside from spending quality time with my two daughters, family and friends, I love to travel. I love to soak in different cultures and experience how others live in other parts of the world. There is no experience like sitting on a small patio in a different country and people watch.
- What's the best advice you've ever received?
Friends and family always say “If you don’t make time for your wellness and wellbeing. You will be forced to make time for your illness.”
So true, if I take care of myself everything else falls into place. A difficult tasks at times. I try to remember everyday, we are here for a “good time, not a long time”.
- If you could switch roles with someone for a day, who would it be and why?
I would love to be a zookeeper for a day. I’d spend the day sharing bananas with the monkeys and the gorillas.
- What's a fun fact about you that most people would not guess?
I do not eat cheese, if it’s not mozzarella or cheddar I will not touch it. The odour and texture repels me. Please don’t cut cheese and share the knife with me. I’m afraid of mice but I will share my cheese with them anytime!
